This bold new take on Vivaldi’s classic brings together four world premiere ballets, striking large-scale set and costume design, and an original score performed live by composer and electronic music innovator Dan Deacon.
Created in honor of America250, this groundbreaking performance is co-commissioned with ArtPhilly’s What Now: 2026 Festival and Highmark Mann, placing BalletX at the heart of Philadelphia’s citywide cultural moment.
A journey through the seasons at an iconic outdoor venue, this is BalletX in a way you’ve never experienced—immersive, collaborative, and designed for live performance. Inspired by the powerful outdoor moments audiences still talk about, this year’s Festival pushes the experience even further.
At the center of The Four Seasons Reimagined is an original score by Dan Deacon, the acclaimed composer and electronic music artist known for pushing the boundaries of live performance. Deacon’s reimagining of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is performed live, bringing new energy and emotional depth to a piece audiences think they already know.
Four visionary choreographers—Penny Saunders, Jamar Roberts, Trey McIntyre, and Morgann Runacre-Temple—each take on one season, creating distinct yet interconnected works that explore nature, resilience, and transformation.
The ballet unfolds within a striking visual world designed by award-winning costume and scenic designer Emma Kingsbury, whose work unifies the seasons through immersive design, alongside lighting design by Christopher Ash that transforms the space with shifting atmosphere and light. Together, music, choreography, and design transport audiences into a space where art sparks imagination, honors the natural world, and reflects the power of collective creativity.
Festival at Highmark Mann: A Celebration of Dance & Community
The Four Seasons Reimagined anchors the Festival at Highmark Mann, BalletX’s annual celebration of Philadelphia’s vibrant community.
Before the main performance, audiences can enjoy iconic pre-show performances by dance organizations from across the region. These performances span styles from classical ballet and contemporary dance to hip hop and cultural traditions, showcasing the incredible diversity of movement thriving throughout Philadelphia.
The Festival also marks the return of #OneDanceOnePhilly, BalletX’s citywide moment of shared movement and joy. During this communal dance, performers and audience members come together in a single choreography, transforming Highmark Mann into a space of community and celebration.
