Celebrating our 2025/2026 Dance eXchange Students!

As we close out another incredible year of Dance eXchange, we find ourselves reflecting on a season shaped by our guiding theme: Four Seasons…Root, Rise, Dance.

This theme carried us through moments of growth, challenge, joy, and celebration, mirroring the journeys of the students, teaching artists, and school communities who make this work so meaningful. This year, we were proud to partner with six schools, reaching 20 classrooms and 456 students across our community!

Root.

At the start of the year, students planted seeds, learning foundational movements, building trust, and finding their place within a creative community. These early moments reminded us that confidence begins with connection. Classrooms transformed into spaces where every student could feel grounded and supported. As one student shared,

“Dance eXchange gives us the chance to beat our fears and succeed together while being our own person.”

Rise.

As the months unfolded, we witnessed remarkable growth. Students stepped forward with courage, creativity, and collaboration. Teaching artists guided them with care and expertise, while classroom teachers nurtured their progress every step of the way. Together, we saw students rise, individually and collectively, into their fullest potential. One teacher beautifully captured this transformation:

“It has been a joy to watch my students grow through Dance eXchange this season. Seeing them transition from those first steps of the letters dance to confidently performing a full, complex, choreographed piece has been a highlight of our year. Their growth, both in skill and in spirit, truly captures the magic.”

Dance.

By the time we reached the final performances, the energy was undeniable. The stage came alive with movement, rhythm, and storytelling. Students who once felt unsure stepped into the spotlight with confidence and pride. These culminating moments were not just performances, they were celebrations of perseverance, teamwork, and joy.

“Dance eXchange helped me feel confident being on stage. The final performance was the best part!”

Across all our partner schools, the spirit of Dance eXchange was vibrant and deeply felt. In one classroom, students described it as “a happy place filled with joyful music, movement, and connection. We embrace positivity and growth, and we just keep dancing.” That sense of belonging and positivity is at the heart of everything we do.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our teaching artists, whose creativity, passion, and dedication bring this program to life each day. Thank you for meeting students where they are and inspiring them to go further than they imagined possible. To our partner schools and classroom teachers, thank you for your collaboration, trust, and unwavering support. Your commitment creates the foundation that allows this work to flourish.

And to our young dancers, thank you for your bravery, your energy, and your willingness to try something new. You reminded us again and again that dance is not just about movement, it is about expression, connection, and discovering what we are capable of together.

As we look ahead, we carry this year’s lessons with us. We will continue to root ourselves in community, rise through shared growth, and always dance.
