Silke Fischer was born in the South of Austria – Graz. After visiting Fashion School, she studied Stage- and Costume Design in Utrecht, The Netherlands and finished her studies in Graz, Austria with excellent success and got honored by the University of Arts Graz.
Her first experience with dance she made during her studies in The Netherlands working in the Costume Atelier of “Nederlands Dans Theater” (NDT) in Den Haag with artistic director Jiri Kylian. There she worked on productions of Johan Inger, Nacho Duato, Ohad Narin, Hans van Manen, Lighfoot/Leon, Mats Ek and William Forsythe.
Right after her studies she became appointed Costume Director of “Landestheater Linz” in Austria by the age of 27. She was working on all Opera, Ballet, and Drama Productions throughout 3 Seasons from 2005-2007.
The following years until 2015 she worked as a freelance Stage and Costume designer for various productions in Opera, Drama and mainly Ballet and Dance. During this period, she worked with Marguerite Donlon, Rosamund Gilmore, Henry Mason, Catherine Guerin, Darrel Toulon, Jörg Mannes, Beverly Blankenship among others.
In 2015 she got appointed Costume Director of “Opera Graz”. In Opera Graz she designs Costumes mainly for Ballet productions of Beate Vollack, Marguerite Donlon, Pablo Girolami.
