Sun Keting, also known as Rockey Sun, is a China-born, London-based composer and creative director working across ballet, contemporary music and theatre. Her work is shaped by Eastern philosophy and a deep interest in the relationship between sound, movement and the body. Described by Opera Now as “beautifully crafted,” Rockey’s music has also been noted for its “brassy, filmic orchestration” by the Financial Times and its “harmonic imagination” by Bachtrack. Her work has been commissioned and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, BBC Singers, Royal Philharmonic Society and Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Recent projects include Chronicle 时·录, a choral-theatre work with SANSARA and Nederlands Kamerkoor premiered at the 2026 Aldeburgh Festival; Conduit, created with the London Sinfonietta for London’s Southbank Centre; and the UK tour of Divine Intimacies with Tangram, the artist-led company she co-directs. Other highlights include music for Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Black Sabbath – The Ballet and a collaboration with choreographer Le Wang presented at the 2025 Venice Biennale Danza. Rockey holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the Royal Academy of Music.
