Dance eXchange Returns to the Stage

This April, BalletX’s Dance eXchange program proudly returns to the stage at Drexel University’s Mandell Theater for our annual final performances, a vibrant celebration of creativity, growth, and community.

These performances will bring together students, teaching artists, families, and supporters to share in the joy of dance and to honor a year of dedication and discovery.

This year’s theme, Four Seasons…Root, Rise, Dance!, has guided the students through a journey of transformation. Throughout the school year, young dancers have explored what it means to stay grounded, grow with confidence, and express themselves through movement. From reflective moments to energetic group choreography, each performance captures the unique voice and spirit of every student.

We are thrilled to celebrate the work of 456 students from six Philadelphia public schools, including Albert M. Greenfield School, Bache-Martin School, Francis Scott Key School, Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy, Stephen Girard School, and Olney Elementary School. Throughout the year, these students have worked alongside a dedicated team of ten Teaching Artists and musicians who bring the Dance eXchange curriculum to life with passion, care, and artistry. Their final performances at the Mandell Theater are the culmination of 24 weeks of collaboration and resilience. For many students, this will be their first time performing on a professional stage, an experience that builds confidence, fosters teamwork, and creates lasting memories. We are also proud to recognize this year’s seven Dance eXchange t-shirt design winners. Each school’s Teaching Artists selected one winning design from student submissions, which will be worn by all students during their performance. These shirts serve as a visual representation of each school’s creativity, pride, and collective spirit.

These performances would not be possible without the generous support of our funders and partners. Their commitment ensures that Dance eXchange remains accessible to students across Philadelphia, providing meaningful arts education experiences at no cost to participants. We extend our deepest gratitude for their continued investment in the students and communities.

Help BalletX raise $45,600 to support 456 Dance eXchange students this year. Through partnerships with 6 Philadelphia public schools, BalletX delivers 24 weeks of dance education that inspires creativity, confidence, and connection. Gifts of any size make an impact. Be the spark that changes a life!
