Alexandra Policaro is BalletX's Independence Foundation Dance Fellow.
Alexandra was born and raised in Northern Virginia until moving to New York City at the age of 16 to train at The Ailey School. She received a scholarship from the Kennedy Center to attend Ailey’s Junior Division program, while receiving her high school education at the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS). Under the Artistic Direction of Tiffany Barnes and Guillermo Asca, she performed works by Adrienne Hurd, Matthew Rushing, Earl Mosley, Pedro Ruiz, Martin Lofsnes, Christian von Howard and Winston Dynamite Brown. Alexandra was a 2017 National Young Arts Foundation winner in modern dance and received the Excellence in Dance award at PPAS. Alexandra has worked in both the concert and commercial realm, working with dance companies such as Zikr Dance Ensemble and Traverse City Dance Project. In addition, Alexandra has been a featured dancer in music videos by artists such as Brandy and Paris Jackson. Under the direction of Jodie Gates, Alexandra graduated with a BFA from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance in Los Angeles, CA. During her time at USC, she performed works by William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Alejandro Cerrudo, Matthew Neenan, Barak Marshall and more. Alexandra has also attended summer intensive programs at Jacob’s Pillow, Orsolina28, Arts Umbrella, Hubbard Street, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, The Ailey School and Richmond Ballet.
