BalletX is traveling to Ballet Sun Valley Summer Festival this August! Since 2017, Ballet Sun Valley brings the world’s most celebrated ballet companies and dancers to the Sun Valley Pavilion for locals and visitors alike. This year, the festival spans the full spectrum of ballet, from classical ballet repertoire to modern-day favorites.
We are grateful and honored to present two unique programs on Aug 22-23. If you have ever dreamed of making the trip or have plans to be in the area, consider joining us in a special evening of Matthew Neenan’s Sunset, o639 Hours and a mixed repertoire gala.
PROGRAM A: SUNSET, o639 HOURS
Aug 22, 7:00pm
BalletX’s debut performance in Sun Valley will feature a two-act story ballet Sunset, o639 Hours choreographed by Matthew Neenan and composer Rosie Langabeer. Audiences will be transported by the rich sights and sounds of pre-World War II New Zealand, Samoa, and Hawaii through this beautiful and intensely personal narrative of loss, longing, and paradise.
Five musicians will join the company on stage during this performance.
PROGRAM B: MIXED REPERTOIRE GALA
Aug 23, 7:00pm
Program B will include several unique works created for BalletX. The mixed repertoire gala style evening will feature works from Jorma Elo (Boston Ballet), Caili Quan (former BalletX company dancer), Nicolo Fonte, and Matthew Neenan (Co-Founder of BalletX) which will range from 5:00 – 24:00 minutes.
