James Ihde

James Ihde received his dance training at the Dance Institute of the University of Akron. He was invited to join the Pennsylvania Ballet as an apprentice for the 1993/1994 season, and was promoted to soloist in 2003. In his twenty-five years with the Pennsylvania Ballet he had the privilege of performing a wide range of ballets by some of the dance world’s leading choreographers including: George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, William Forsythe, Paul Taylor, Cristopher Wheeldon, Matthew Neenan, Twyla Tharp, Jiří Kylián, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Jorma Elo, and many others. In addition to teaching for BalletX, James is on faculty at the Philadelphia Dance Academy and has served as guest faculty and master teacher for schools around the country.
