In the Wake explores grief as not an endpoint but as a ritual passage, a ceremony unfolding in the body. Drawing on the layered meanings of the word “wake,” the piece moves through the quiet spaces that follow any deep change: the stillness of reflection, the turbulence that trails a shifting world, and the subtle traces we continue to follow. “In the Wake” invites the audiences into the tender aftermath, where memory stirs the air and moving together becomes its own form of devotion.
In the Wake premiered as part of the BalletX Choreographic Fellowship, generously supported by the Wyncote Foundation, at the recommendation of David Haas.
