Talsikan

Pronunciation: tah-all-seek-ohn (Tagalog/Filipino). Translation: The leaps of a spark; sudden flight of splinters; an abrupt flight into the air.

This collaborative work questions why one feels the need to take flight and levitate. A lift of the limbs, resistance against the floor, the support of a hand, or perhaps the emotional surrender to the music is what may bring us one step closer to these desired heights – exploring the levels of how one figure abruptly emerges only to influence the rise and trials of those around it.

"under Cruz's investigation, the pointe shoe becomes everything it's not supposed to be"
