BalletX, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, returns to The Joyce Theater to launch its 20th Anniversary Season with a celebration of two decades of daring dance and transformative artistry. With a remarkable 150 original works commissioned from over 80 choreographers worldwide, BalletX continues to shape the future of ballet through bold new voices and unforgettable performances.
This dynamic program features the New York premieres of Sojourner (2025) by Gregory Dawson, an electrifying collaboration with composer Luke Carlos O’Reilly featuring a live ensemble of New York jazz greats, and Scales on the Wings of a Butterfly (2025), a striking new work by rising choreographer Noelle Kayser inspired by the art of microscopic photography. Added to the program are audience favorites from the company’s acclaimed 20-year repertoire, including excerpts from Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Vivir (2018) and Nicola Wills’ Two People In Love Never Shake Hands (2024).
