Spring Series 2026 has come to a close, and what an incredible week it was! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, March 18-22. Performing to sold-out houses all week long was a powerful reminder of how special the BalletX community is. Your energy, curiosity, and support make these performances possible, and we are so grateful you were part of it.
This year’s Spring Series celebrated the work of co-founder Matthew Neenan, whose choreography has helped shape BalletX for more than two decades. From beloved repertory to the world premiere of SQUARES with composer Scott Ordway, scenic and lighting designer Christopher Ash, and costume designer Karen Young, it was a joy to share these works with you and to celebrate the artistry, musicality, and storytelling that define his work and our company.
In this post, take a look back at Spring Series highlights, including our Opening Night video, access to the music from SQUARES, our Curtain Chat conversation, footage from our Young Patrons Circle Afterparty and Dream Team performance, and an update on the Dance eXchange Donor Drive. Plus, find out where you can get exclusive Spring Series merchandise.
Up next, we head outdoors for the Festival at Highmark Mann on June 4-5, featuring the world premiere of The Four Seasons Reimagined with live, original music by Dan Deacon, choreography by four renowned artists, and immersive design that will take you into a world that is fragile, fierce, and magnificently alive. With all tickets at just $25, we hope you’ll join us for an unforgettable experience at the Highmark Mann this June!
Here’s a look back at Spring Series 2026:
Opening Night
The energy on opening night was electric, and we were so excited to share it with you.
The Music of SQUARES
One of the most thrilling parts of SQUARES was Scott Ordway’s original score, performed live during Spring Series. If you loved the music behind SQUARES, now you can listen to it anytime. The full score is available on Spotify and Bandcamp, where you can stream the album or purchase it to have permanent access. It’s a great way to revisit the piece and experience the music in a new light.
Curtain Chat
On Thursday night, BalletX’s Rehearsal Director & Community Liaison Keelan Whitmore sat down with choreographer Matthew Neenan, composer Scott Ordway, and BalletX dancers Francesca Forcella and Joao Pedro Silva for an in-depth conversation about the making of Spring Series. It was a thoughtful, funny, and honest look behind the scenes, and a reminder of how much collaboration goes into every performance.
YPC Afterparty
On Friday, we got to celebrate with our Young Patrons Circle at the YPC Afterparty, a special event where our community of young professionals can meet our dancers and deepen their engagement with the company. This program is growing fast – learn more about YPC, and share it with the young professionals in your life!
Dream Team Performance
Ahead of the Saturday matinee, our Dream Team performed for the first time this season. The Dream Team is a group of students from our Dance eXchange program who choose to continue their learning through weekly rehearsals and performances alongside the BalletX company. You’ll see them next at our Pop-Up at the Philadelphia Art Museum on May 18, and again at the Festival at Highmark Mann.
Dance eXchange Donor Drive
During Spring Series, we asked our incredible community to support the BalletX Dance eXchange Donor Drive, and you showed up in a big way. We raised over $50,000 to support our in-school dance education program for 456 students across six Philadelphia public schools. This support helps ensure that hundreds of students will continue to receive consistent, high-quality dance education.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave, shared, and helped make this possible. If you missed the Dance eXchange Donor Drive, there is still time to give! Make a gift here.
