BalletX & Philadelphia Chamber Music Society

Jan 6 |
Perelman Theater, Kimmel Center

BalletX & Philadelphia Chamber Music Society

Following a thrilling collaboration in 2022, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, BalletX, returns to the PCMS stage in concert with pianist Michelle Cann, a “compelling, sparkling virtuoso” (Boston Musical Intelligencer). Choreographed by BalletX co-founder Matthew Neenan, Situated is set to Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words and features a mysterious prop puzzle of chairs, which the dancers appear to engage with and solve together. The second half features a suite for solo piano by Michael Leibowitz, and Lovely, a work by BalletX Resident Choreographer Jamar Roberts that is set to the music of Don Shirley, the inspiration for the 2018 film Green Book.
