Dance eXchange goes Virtual

Dance eXchange is BalletX’s in-school education program that empowers Philadelphia public school children and strengthens such important life skills as self-confidence, focus, teamwork, and determination. Based on the award-winning pedagogy of the National Dance Institute in NYC, the program introduces the basics of dance to 3rd and 4th graders in a fun and structured environment that sparks curiosity and creativity through movement exercises, choreography, and live performance.

Dance eXchange looks different this fall, and we are thrilled to share how BalletX is committed to delivering Dance eXchange to our school partners in a meaningful, informative, and celebratory way, inviting our students to stay engaged, healthy, active, and joyful at home.

As always, our mission is to be a positive addition to our heroic classroom teachers’ curriculums, and this year is no different. This program year, Dance eXchange has proudly adapted to online learning with a series of Dance exchange class videos delivered to all of our school partners weekly. These videos are shared by the students as an online community and are available to access anytime they want to brush up on their dancing skills, release some energy, and take time to move their bodies with family and friends. This year’s Dance eXchange theme is STRENGTH We are stronger together! We all must work and support one another as a strong community during this unprecedented time, even when physically apart.

Now, for the first time, you can try Dance eXchange yourself! Follow along to the video above, made especially for our partner Stephen Girard School, as we present “Letter B,” which stands for…Bravery!

In addition to our in-school program, Dance eXchange is providing FREE after-school Zoom classes with our extraordinary teaching artists and musicians twice-per-week this fall. Click here to meet our Dance eXchange teaching team, and dance on!

Dance eXchange is funded by generous support from the William Penn Foundation, Leo Model Foundation, Zeldin Family Foundation, Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation, Loeb Performing Arts Fund, and friends like you!
