Experience a world premiere by Matthew Neenan, the Philadelphia premiere of a new work by Jamar Roberts, co-commissioned by the Vail Dance Festival, and the return of Jennifer Archibald’s Exalt (2022).
Matthew Neenan, co-founder of BalletX and hailed as “one of America’s best dance poets” by The New York Times, has choreographed on major companies including New York City Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet. He returns to BalletX with a world premiere featuring live music by composer and classical guitarist, Michael Poll.
Jamar Roberts, known for his “mesmerizing choreography” (Dance Magazine), returns for a new work co-commissioned with the Vail Dance Festival and featuring the music of Philip Glass, as performed by Brooklyn Rider. Roberts was a dancer and Resident Choreographer with Ailey and has created work for Complexions and New York City Ballet.
Jennifer Archibald‘s Exalt (2022) takes inspiration from club culture. Fusing house music and global dance tracks mixed by DJ Foremost Poets, this exhilarating work challenges the boundaries of classical ballet with “drama, grit, and swagger” (Dance International).
