Experience world premieres by Jennifer Archibald and 2024 Choreographic Fellow Nicola Wills, alongside the return of Jodie’s Gates, Beautiful Once (2017).
Jennifer Archibald, lauded by The Philadelphia Inquirer for her “sleek, lovely, highly athletic” choreography, is the founder and director of Arch Dance Company and a lecturer at Columbia and Yale Universities. This world premiere marks the beginning of a two-year commission culminating in a full-length ballet in BalletX’s 2024-2025 season.
Nicola Wills is BalletX’s 2024 Choreographic Fellow. Wills has danced with Queensland Ballet, Ballet Dortmund, and Royal Ballet of Flanders, and was selected for the BalletX Fellowship from over 55 international applicants. Her world premiere will play on order and chaos to explore what lies behind social constructs.
Jodie Gates‘s Beautiful Once (2017), hailed by The Philadelphia Inquirer for its “beautiful partnering, clean lines, symmetrical patterns,” features original music by Ryan Lott of Son Lux. Gates is the Artistic Director of Cincinnati Ballet and Founder and Artistic Director of the Laguna Dance Festival.
